Announcements

  • As a reminder, abstracts for the Firearms conference are due July 9th. Read more about the guidelines and submit here.
  • Call for participants! The Study on Gun Violence in African Communities invites you to participate in a research survey aimed at understanding the root causes and impacts of firearm violence in African immigrant communities. Read more about the study and eligibility here, and the find the survey here. Please share this survey with your communities and colleagues as you see fit! 
  • Dr. Julia Schleimer was recently featured in a MindSite News article, talking about her research which has linked Head Start with a reduced risk of gun violence among kids when they become young adults.

Opportunities

UW is planning to offer post-doctoral training in  Pediatric Injury Research, with positions becoming available for summer/fall, 2025. This training program is funded through a US National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD)   T-32 grant. Applications received by   July 1, 2025  will be given the highest priority. Read more  here.

Safe Kids/SAVIR scholarship for Unintentional Childhood Injury Research  is accepting applications through   June 30th. Read more about this opportunity   here!

  • Please reach out to Sam Banks (sbanks94@uw.edu) if you have any new firearm-related publications and/or conversations with the media, reporters, community partners, or policymakers in an article so it can be listed on the FIPRP website.
  • FIPRP has a SharePoint that we are hoping will help facilitate the sharing of resources. We currently have a methods folder which includes resources and guidance on topics like data visualization, qualitative methods, and survey methods among other resources for FIPRP outreach. If you would like access or would like to contribute resources, please email Sam Banks at sbanks94@uw.edu.
