Announcements

  • A Panel on Disappearing Data: Recoveries, Repositories, and Resiliencies will be held on May 19th, 9:30-11am in Parrington Hall, Room 360. You can read more and register here by May 9th (today!).
  • "Pick me! How to write a winning abstract for the National Research Conference for the Prevention of Firearm-Related Harms" webinar is happening on May 21 from 11am-12pm PT.  Dr. Ali Rowhani-Rahbar and Dr. Kristian Jones from FIPRP will be speaking, along with colleagues from the Firearm Injury Prevention Initiative at the University of Colorado. Opportunities

  • The Black & Brown Collective Training & Mentorship Program will launch this year! This Training & Mentorship Program (“The Program”) is designed to support the next generation of researchers committed to informing solutions to gun violence. Apply by May 26, 2025. Read more about this opportunity here and here. 
  • The Centers for Violence Prevention (CVP) at UC Davis invite applications for one or more postdoctoral fellowships in violence prevention research. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis through June 15, 2025 or until the position is filled. Read more about the opportunity here.
  • UW is planning to offer post-doctoral training in Pediatric Injury Research, with positions becoming available for summer/fall, 2025. This training program is funded through a US National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) T-32 grant. Applications received by July 1, 2025 will be given the highest priority. The Methods Team may be able to help with:

  • Providing qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods consultation services
  • Creating, compiling, and presenting methods resources to FIPRP members
  • Facilitating trainings on qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods, research procedures, and research ethics

REMINDERS

  • Please reach out to Sam Banks (sbanks94@uw.edu) if you have any new firearm-related publications and/or conversations with the media, reporters, community partners, or policymakers in an article so it can be listed on the FIPRP website.
  • FIPRP has a SharePoint that we are hoping will help facilitate the sharing of resources. We currently have a methods folder which includes resources and guidance on topics like data visualization, qualitative methods, and survey methods among other resources for FIPRP outreach. If you would like access or would like to contribute resources, please email Sam Banks at sbanks94@uw.edu.
