Announcements

  • The 2024 National Research Conference for the Prevention of Firearm-Related Harms wrapped up on Wednesday, and was a huge success! We had 28 FIPRP members attend and 32 presentations. Big congratulations to Dr. Kelsey Conrick for receiving the Innovation Award! Click here to see photos from the conference, and here to see the LinkedIn post summarizing the event.
  • The Violence Prevention and Transformation Research Collaborative at UW Tacoma is hosting an in-person event: "School Threat Assessment and Restorative Practices: Connections to Improve School Safety." This training will take place on January 24th from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm. Please see the event flyer with more information here.
  • SAVIR has opened the annual call for board of director nominations, awards and the mentorship program. Nominate and apply here by January 15th. 
  • Congratulations to Dr. Jeanie Santaularia and Dr. Krista Neumann who were awarded a grant from the Society of Family Planning to study the impacts of state-level abortion restrictions post-Dobbs on intimate partner violence and child maltreatment. Read more about the project here. 
  • As a reminder, there will be no Weekly meetings, Methods Seminars, or FIPRP Fridays until the new year. We hope to see you in 2025!

  • Providing qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods consultation services
  • Creating, compiling, and presenting methods resources to FIPRP members
  • Facilitating trainings on qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods, research procedures, and research ethics

REMINDERS

  • Please reach out to Sam Banks (sbanks94@uw.edu) if you have any new firearm-related publications and/or conversations with the media, reporters, community partners, or policymakers in an article so it can be listed on the FIPRP website.
  • FIPRP has a SharePoint that we are hoping will help facilitate the sharing of resources. We currently have a methods folder which includes resources and guidance on topics like data visualization, qualitative methods, and survey methods among other resources for FIPRP outreach. If you would like access or would like to contribute resources, please email Sam Banks at sbanks94@uw.edu.
